Interior living space vray render showing revised window layout for Mentawai Temporary building accommodation
Design Ethos
This temporary accommodation for the client and team anticipates the transitional phase of the Ki Communities surf-retreat, yet is conceived with a long-term destiny: conversion into a vibrant community school once the main build is complete.
The architecture responds to the island ambience of the Mentawai Islands—light, breezy, resilient. A flexible modular layout supports team living now and classroom, assembly and community functions later.
Materials are chosen for durability and clarity, while opening up to the lush landscape and ocean breeze to nurture wellbeing and connection. This interim building honours the resort’s ethos of Ki — the vital life-force flowing through nature, culture and people — by delivering purpose now, and purpose later.
